This face embodies the struggle of more than half the population of Venezuela. #LeopoldoLopez called for an active but pacific resistance against a tyrannical & oppressive government who rule only by themselves & for themselves. The legislative, judicial and electoral powers have all been stripped away from any hint of independence and now they blindly oblige to the iron-fisted, arms-backed executive power. Students have been executed by government-run paramilitary forces under the permissive eye of state-run police forces. The government’s formula consists on crying for coups, whilst they forget that the opposition does not bear arms. Nor do they have military-backing. Civil society has taken to the streets to protest insecurity, food & medical shortages, corruption and lack of independence within all the different state-powers. The response from the government has ranged from torture, targeted killings & unlawful imprisonment. Please raise awareness for #Venezuela
#Venezuela is being reigned by a #murderous, #terrorist and #authoritative government. At least 40 #students have been murdered by both the military and by state-permitted #paramilitary forces, namely #tupamaro groups. The country produces 2 million barrels of oil a day and there is an unprecedented shortage of supplies. No food, no medicines. #HIV & #cancer patients have no way to get treated. There is no respect for basic #HumanRights. Please raise awareness, this fight must not go unnoticed. #sosvenezuela #PrayForVenezuela photocredits unknown student
To all of my brothers, students, mothers, workers, fathers; to those that have lost family, loved ones. They shan’t die in vain, their memory will live in candles nested in all the righteous hearts. Students are being killed, tortured & massacred by dictatorial, repressive government. Basic human rights are being systematically eroded. Please raise awareness of our Venezuelan brothers. #sosvenezuela #SOS #dictadura #FueraMaduro #Repression #HumanRights
I’d like to ask you for a minute of your time and please send a prayer for the students back in my home country, Venezuela. They are standing strong against an oppressive regime and a few have died, while many have been wounded. They are fighting for better life conditions. The ruling regime is holding onto power by using mercenaries, shooting live ammo towards unarmed protesters. Media outlets have been systematically targeted creating a news blackout. There is a lot of uncertainty, all while the government is doing all it can to silence them.
